Climate The Long Beach area has an average of 278 days of sunshine every year. The average temperature June through October is in the eighties, while the average November through May is in the mid-sixties. Only a two hour drive to major mountain ski resorts and a short drive to beautiful desert areas, the Long Beach area offers a convenient location to experience the rich and varied beauty of Southern California.

Neighborhoods Long Beach’s Belmont Shore and Naples are known for their sandy beaches, calm lagoons, picturesque canals, elegant home-lined boardwalks, and fabulous shopping. Island Getaway Catalina Island is only 26 miles off the coast but feels like a world away. Arrive by helicopter in 14 minutes or take the 45-minute express boat trip. Sports For the water enthusiast, the Long Beach Marina offers one of the greatest sailing locations in California. Our marina is the home of the Congressional Cup, Transpac and Olympic trial races and also offers an array of water and water-related activities. With over 3,800 boat slips, ours is the largest municipality-run marina in the world. Long Beach is also the home of the Toyota Grand Prix, a race that transforms the city each spring. Golfers will enjoy our beautiful nine and 18-hole courses.

Shopping Second Street in the Belmont Shore area features 15 blocks of specialty shops and boutiques, scores of restaurants, and entertainment. Shoreline Village, reminiscent of a 19th century California seaport village with its colorful, quaint architecture features a unique collection of shops, restaurants and entertainment and is located on the beautiful waterfront of downtown Long Beach. Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach features a combination of upscale restaurants, a movie theater, and an assortment of chain and specialty stores, while the Lakewood Mall offers a variety of Department and other stores.

Nature Enjoy the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, one of the largest aquariums in the United States. Its 500+ species fill 17 major living habitats, 50 exhibits. Visitors take a journey throughout the Pacific Ocean’s three regions. Enjoy a relaxing walk through the El Dorado Nature Center, or experience the beauty of traditional Japanese landscaping by visiting the Japanese Gardens.
